Yes, our engineered timber flooring can be used with hydronic underfloor heating when installed and operated in accordance with our Installation Guidelines. Correct commissioning and careful temperature management are essential.

Please note that installations over underfloor heating are excluded from Summit’s product warranty. Contact us before ordering so we can discuss your proposed system and installation requirements.

We do not recommend using our flooring with electric underfloor/undertile heating unless installed with a barrier inbetween. Please discuss your heating system with us before selecting your flooring.

Our standard engineered Oak finishes are NZ$139/m² + GST ($159.85/m² including GST). Dusky Ash is NZ$129/m² + GST ($148.35/m² including GST).

These are flooring supply prices. Freight, installation, adhesives and any subfloor preparation are additional. Trade and volume discounts may be available.

Yes. Our flooring may be used in kitchens, laundries, powder rooms and toilets when specified and installed in accordance with Summit’s wet-area installation system and supporting Alternative Solution documentation.

It is not suitable for bathrooms or saunas.

A suitably experienced DIYer may be able to install our flooring, but correct subfloor preparation, moisture testing and adhesive application are essential. Installation must follow Summit’s Installation Guidelines and meet the documentation requirements of our product warranty.

We recommend professional installation for wet areas and projects incorporating underfloor heating.

Summit Flooring supplies engineered Oak and Ash flooring but does not provide installation.

Use a flooring adhesive suitable for direct-stick engineered timber flooring and compatible with your subfloor, moisture barrier and any levelling products.

Your installer should select a compatible system and follow both the manufacturer’s instructions and Summit’s Installation Guidelines. Wet-area installations and projects with underfloor heating require particular attention to these requirements.

Yes. Our prefinished engineered Oak and Ash flooring is suitable for everyday family living. Its nine-coat lacquer finish protects the surface, but genuine timber can still scratch or dent.

Entrance mats, felt pads beneath furniture and regular removal of grit help protect your floor. Keep pet claws trimmed and clean up spills and pet accidents promptly.

We supply flooring boards that can be used to fabricate matching stair nosings, but we do not supply ready-made nosings.

Your builder, joiner or flooring installer can fabricate nosings to suit your staircase. The detail should be agreed with your designer and installer before work begins.

Yes. Summit’s engineered Oak and Ash flooring is designed for direct-stick installation, meaning the boards are bonded to a properly prepared concrete or timber subfloor using a suitable flooring adhesive.

Our boards have tongue-and-groove joints and are not a click-together floating-floor system. Correct subfloor preparation, moisture testing and compatible installation products are essential.

Yes, definitely. Many customers use our flooring on walls and ceilings. It makes a great feature and can easily be installed direct to framing as it is 15mm thick and requires no substrate.

Yes. Our engineered timber boards can be used to finish stair treads and risers, creating a coordinated look with adjoining timber floors.

The stair nosings and installation details need to suit your staircase. Your designer and installer should confirm the design, dimensions and fixing method before work begins.

Yes. Custom finishes are available, subject to minimum order quantities. They typically cost more than our standard Natural Oak, Blonde Oak, Moscato Oak and Dusky Ash finishes.

Contact us with your preferred colour, approximate flooring area and project timeframe so we can confirm the options, pricing and lead time.

Regularly remove dust and grit with a soft broom or a vacuum suitable for timber floors. Clean with a well-wrung microfibre mop using minimal moisture, and wipe up spills promptly.

Avoid steam mops, excessive water, abrasive cleaners and harsh chemicals. Use entrance mats to reduce tracked-in grit and felt pads beneath furniture to help prevent scratches.

Yes. Genuine timber flooring can change colour over time with exposure to sunlight. The amount of change depends on the finish, light intensity and exposure, and may be more noticeable with darker finishes.

Areas beneath rugs or furniture may develop differently from exposed flooring. Blinds or curtains can help reduce direct sunlight, while occasionally repositioning rugs and furniture can help minimise noticeable differences.

If using temporary floor protection during installation, be sure to provide consistent coverage to the whole floor area.

The protective lacquer finish does not prevent all colour change.

Natural Oak has a clear lacquer finish with no added colour stain, allowing the timber’s warm tones, grain and natural variation to show through.

Blonde Oak has a subtle white stain that creates a lighter overall appearance while retaining the character of genuine timber.

Both have the same board dimensions, 4mm European Oak wear layer and prefinished lacquer system. The main difference is the colour.
